Amazing 19th century French gilt bronze clock surmounted by two finely crafted cherubs riding a chariot drawn by a pair of wonderfully detailed goats. The metal work boasts exquisite detail throughout. Radiant original gilt bronze accentuated by cobalt blue porcelain. An enamel hand painted porcelain base displays groups of cherubs in various musical scenes and is supported by gilt bronze work featuring grapevine and oak leaf motifs.

This clock is a beautiful example of the best of mid -19th century craftsmanship. The blue clock face bears the name of Alphonse Giroux, important Parisian artisan. The movement also has the engraved signature "Alph Giroux a Paris" and the number 414.

Clock is in great condition with imperfections natural to its age. Has 8 day movement and beautifully chimes every half hour. Has key and original pendulum, working condition.
