This magnificent group depicts the famous myth of Europa being captivated by Zeus in the form of a beautiful white bull. Meissen's renowned artists capture every detail in full, gorgeous color. Some of the piece's stunning features include: intricate flowers, a finely woven basket, luscious patterned robes, dreamy facial features, and individually painted hairs- even white on white hairs for the bull so fine as to be barely noticeable. The base is completely encircled by gilded scallop decoration, suggestive of the sea in the ancient myth.

It bears 19th century blue crossed swords underglaze mark. Condition is generally good, professional repair to Europa's neck and hair, pictured, some chips to flowers and leaves typical to its age.
